The Skagit Valley is an international watershed that the University of Victoria and the University of Washington Environmental Law Clinics have been working hard to save. Below are Skagit pictures taken by UW students who worked with the UVic Clinic to protect the valley.

Project Quote
"During the summer of 2004, I had the privilege of working with Calvin
Sandborn at the Environmental Law Centre of Victoria on a project for the
Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission (SEEC).
SEEC asked us to identify the legal and political instruments that they
could use to best achieve their mandate: the long term protection of the
Upper Skagit Valley. The project was a tremendous hands-on learning
experience in both law and politics, and ultimately resulted in a first-rate
product. It also gave the chance to work with
politicians, scientists, historians, business owners, civil society groups,
the natural resource sector, and colleagues at the University of Washington
Kathy and Steve Berman Environmental Law Clinic.
Perhaps most importantly, though, the SEEC project showed me that it really
is possible to 'make a difference' and advance important environmental
issues as a lawyer. Now I am convinced that anything and everything is
possible - it's just a matter of hard work, conviction, and never letting
your eyes stray from the bigger picture."
